Truth-In-Advertising is wrong. Comcast is giving customers what they advertise
Consumers get what they paid for...
Today, I saw an article on TruthInAdvertising.com which tried to smear Comcast’s excellent name and reputation. The article tries to claim that Comcast is misleading people when they talk about their “10G Network”. According to TIA, customers may think that Comcast Xfinity 10G Network is twice as good as their 5G Network.
First off, most people are stupid. Ok? So maybe some will think that way. Others may assume that it is twice as fast. But remember what happens what you assume. Second, Comcast can’t help it if other websites make claims that aren’t true. Third, your own web-site states that “Xfinity caps out at 10Gbps down and up”. Ok, argument settled.
Nobody is perfect, either. Has Comcast ever lied to the government and public about their service locations so that they can get more federal money? Sure. Have they been caught lying about data caps, so they could charge people more for less? Sure. Have they claimed that putting tight data caps would “spur innovation” and “enable customer choice”? Haven’t we all?
Have they claimed that putting the final amount of a customer’s bill is too much of a burden for them? Sure. Have they been caught lying about how much they support net neutrality yet favor none of what net neutrality entails? Sure. Have they been called out as having the single worst customer service of anyone in this country? Many times. Have they championed whenever the FCC’s testing results are good for them yet also petition the FCC to “exclude speed test results” from hundreds of customers? Wouldn’t you?
Have they continued to raise the price of ridiculous junk fees like a “Broadcast TV Fee” for many years now? Sure. Have they paid $7.5 million to settle a class action lawsuit about the company abusing their technicians? Possibly. Have they cried about Google Fiber and others invading their customers yet turn around and admit that rural broadband makes no financial sense? Maybe.
